Solana Beach,CA to Santa Anita,CA

Last weekend, I embarked on a delightful train journey from Solana Beach, California, to Arcadia, with the exciting destination of Santa Anita Race Track in mind. The trip was not only a chance to indulge in my passion for horse racing but also an opportunity to savor the beautiful California scenery and enjoy some much-needed reading time.

The Journey Begins

I boarded the train at Solana Beach, where the salty ocean breeze and the rhythmic sound of waves set a relaxing tone for my adventure. Settling into my seat, I felt the anticipation build as the train departed. The beautiful coastline soon gave way to picturesque inland views, with rolling hills and vibrant green landscapes. The peacefulness of the train ride allowed me to dive into my new book, "Be Ready When the Luck Happens" by Ina Garten.

Garten’s words resonated with me, offering insights that were both practical and inspiring. I found myself lost in her anecdotes and wisdom, making the journey not just a transit but an enriching experience. The gentle sway of the train coupled with the captivating narrative made the miles fly by.

Arriving at Santa Anita Race Track

Upon arrival in Arcadia, I eagerly made my way to Santa Anita Race Track. The atmosphere was electric, filled with the excitement of fellow racing enthusiasts. I spent the afternoon taking in the sights and sounds of the races, watching the majestic horses thunder down the track. The thrill of placing a few bets added to the excitement, and I reveled in the camaraderie of fellow spectators.

The beauty of the race track, with its stunning backdrop of the San Gabriel Mountains, made for a perfect day. I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend my time than surrounded by the vibrant energy of horse racing.

A Delicious Dinner Stop

After a thrilling day at the races, I began my journey back home. However, I decided to make a pit stop at Selma’s in San Juan Capistrano for dinner. The charming atmosphere of this local gem welcomed me as I entered, and the tantalizing aroma of delicious Italian food instantly made my mouth water.

I indulged in a delightful meal, savoring every bite while reflecting on the day’s adventures. The combination of good food and the warm ambiance made for a perfect ending to my

outing. Here is what I had for dinner: Sun-Dried Tomato Pasta Penne, sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, tossed in Alfredo sauce, topped with fresh Parmesan & basil with a house salad AND for dessert I had a fresh-baked gluten-free chocolate chip cookie with gluten-free vanilla ice cream!! I think Ina Garten would say "how fabulous"!!

Homeward Bound

After dinner, it was time to head back home. The train ride felt different on the return journey, I was filled with a sense of satisfaction from a day well spent. I picked up where I left off in my book, the familiar words providing comfort as the train glided through the night.

As the train made its way along the tracks, I couldn't help but appreciate how a simple train trip had transformed into a rich tapestry of experiences. From the thrill of the races to the cozy dinner at Selma’s, every moment was a reminder of the joys of travel and the beauty of taking time for oneself.

Conclusion

This trip from Solana Beach to Arcadia was more than just a visit to Santa Anita Race Track, it was a journey filled with laughter, learning, and delicious food. With my book in hand and the world outside my window, I left with cherished memories and a renewed appreciation for life’s little adventures. I can't wait for the next opportunity to hop on a train and explore more of what California has to offer!
